| Summary |
Debt collecting.
That’s what he does. Special assignments. But
mainly, Thrainn (30) is an artist. At least, that’s
what he believes himself to be, a great artist who is
supported by his master self, the one who knows the
truth behind all things. But okay, in his day job, even
he’ll admit it, he’s a thug. Thrainn has
been working with Valli for a while now, collecting
on debts when people seemed to have forgotten the fact
that loans have to be repaid. But women never understand
artists. So it came as little surprise to Thrainn that
his girlfriend finally gave up on him, seeing as he
would “never grow up”, whatever that meant.
Little did she know that he was soon
becoming his own man, because you see, her throwing
him out was just a sign, that it was time to get a place
of his own. It was all according to the Higher Force
that has guided Thrainn since early age. His new apartment
comes with a friendly landlord, named Harald, who is
quick to invite Thrainn up for a little breakfast. It’s
over the course of this meal that Thrainn sees the light
that is Harald, sees him for the master he truly is,
sent to guide Thrainn to the path on behalf of the Higher
Force. “Try to be the best of what you are, even
if what you are is no good”. Haraldur sees a chance
in this young man to make something of himself, and
when he finds out what Thrainn does for a living, he
knows just what he’ll be. Suddenly Harald is no
longer a simple elementary school teacher, but a criminal
mastermind living a double life. And Thrainn his new
apprentice.
Valli and Thrainn have been a duo
for many years now in the debt-collecting gang, and
a successful one. They are usually the ones people go
to when others have failed. But for some reason Valli
has decided to bring in a new recruit. A rugged, badly
shaven sociopath now rides with them, named Zlatko.
This former NATO marine from Serbia with a tendency
for telling stories, preferably with sex in them, has
Thrainn worried about being left out. “Is alright”,
the serb often says, “World is shit, all you do
is make sure you float at top, not bottom.”
To counter the threat of Zlatko, Thrainn
starts giving his companions subtle hints regarding
his friendly relationship with Reykjavik’s own
crime-lord named Harald. This pisses Valli of something
fierce, he asks Thrainn to spy on the crime-lord, to
find everything out about this possible threat. Haraldur
is relishing in the attention of his new friend. He’s
also laying it on pretty thick regarding his supposed
criminal career, passing himself off as the man behind
almost every televised misbehavior available. He’s
also tightening his grip on Thrainn, as every day he
pushes his control a little farther. Thrainn is getting
ready to crack. Not knowing what to report to his boss
Valli about this lonely elementary school teacher who
little by little is turning into a sadistic monster
towards his apprentice. Thrainn decides to make a move,
of course according to the Higher Force.
